Nespresso Professional Compatible Pods: A UK Buyer's Guide for Offices

Nespresso Professional compatible pods: the short version

Nespresso Professional compatible pods let you keep the office coffee machine you already have and pay less for every cup. If your workplace runs a Nespresso® Professional machine, you have probably noticed that the pods come in big boxes, from one supplier, at one price. There is another way to do it. This guide explains how compatible pods work, which machines they fit, what they cost and how to pick a blend the whole team will be happy to drink.

Key takeaways

  • Nespresso Professional pods are a flat, wide shape. They do not fit home Nespresso® Original or Vertuo machines, and home pods do not fit Professional machines.
  • Gimoka's Nespresso Professional compatible pods are made for the Zenius and Gemini machine ranges.
  • Each pack holds 50 aluminium pods with 6g of coffee in each one. A pack costs £16.79, which is about 34p a cup.
  • Nespresso's own Professional assortments work out at around 41p a pod, so an office using 200 pods a month could save about £190 a year.
  • There are three blends to choose from: Intenso (11/15), Cremoso (10/15) and Soave Decaffeinated (8/15). All are roasted in Italy by Gruppo Gimoka.
  • Two packs take you over £25, which means free UK mainland delivery. Bigger workplaces can ask about wholesale pricing and coffee machine rental.

What are Nespresso Professional compatible pods?

Nespresso® makes two separate coffee systems. One is for homes. The other is for workplaces, and it is called Nespresso Professional. The work machines use a different pod. It is flatter and wider than the small dome shaped capsule you might have in your kitchen, a bit like a little disc.

Nespresso Professional compatible pods are made by a different roaster to fit that same work machine. The shape and fit are the same. The coffee inside is different. Gimoka's version is an aluminium pod with 6g of ground coffee inside, sold in packs of 50.

How Nespresso Professional pods differ from home pods

This is the part that catches people out. The three Nespresso® systems do not mix, so it is worth checking before you order.

Where you find it Offices, hotels, restaurants Homes Homes

If you are buying for a home machine instead, our guide on how to choose the right coffee pods for your machine will point you the right way.

Which machines take Nespresso Professional compatible pods?

Gimoka's Nespresso Professional compatible pods are made for two machine ranges.

Zenius

The Zenius is the compact one. You will often see it in small offices, meeting rooms and reception areas. It makes one cup at a time and is simple enough that nobody needs training to use it.

Gemini

Gemini machines are bigger and built for busier spots. Many models have two brewing heads, so two people can make a coffee at once, and some can froth milk too. You will find them in larger offices and hotels.

Momento

Momento is Nespresso's newer touch screen range. Gimoka lists Zenius and Gemini on its product pages, not Momento. If you have a Momento machine, contact the Gimoka team before you order so you do not end up with pods you cannot use.

Not sure which machine you have? The name is usually printed on the front or the drip tray. If the machine is rented, it will also be on your paperwork.

Why offices switch to Nespresso Professional compatible pods

Most workplaces switch for three reasons: the price, the taste and the freedom to buy what they want, when they want.

What Nespresso Professional compatible pods cost per cup

Here is how the numbers compare.

Option Pods Price Cost per pod
Gimoka Nespresso Professional compatible pods (any blend) 50 £16.79 34p
Nespresso Professional Mild 200 Capsule Assortment 200 £83.00 41.5p
Nespresso Professional Discovery 450 Capsule Assortment 450 £182.50 40.6p

Prices were checked on gimokacoffee.com and the Nespresso Professional UK website on 17 September 2026. Prices change, so have a quick look before you order.

A few pence a cup does not sound like much. Over a year it adds up. Say your team gets through 200 pods a month:

  • Nespresso assortment: £83.00 a month
  • Four packs of Gimoka pods: £67.16 a month
  • Saving: £15.84 a month, or about £190 a year

A bigger team saves more. You also do not need to buy hundreds of pods in one go. You can start with two packs and see how it goes.

Italian coffee from one of Italy's biggest roasters

Cheaper only matters if the coffee is good. Gimoka's pods are roasted in Italy by Gruppo Gimoka, which has been roasting since the 1980s. The group roasts around 35,000 tonnes of coffee a year and makes about 800 million capsules. Every blend is checked from the green bean to the finished pack.

Gimoka Coffee UK is the official UK distributor, and customers rate it Excellent on Trustpilot from more than 200 reviews. You can read more about Gimoka, or find out what makes Italian coffee different.

Will compatible pods affect the machine warranty?

Gimoka's answer is no. Its product FAQs say the manufacturer's warranty is not tied to using one brand of capsule, and that Gimoka capsules will not damage your machine.

One thing to check. If you rent or lease your machine, read your agreement. Some rental deals are tied to a regular pod order, and that is a contract issue, not a warranty one.

Gimoka's Nespresso Professional compatible pods compared

There are three blends in the range. Each pack has 50 aluminium pods and costs £16.79.

Blend Intensity Roast Bean origins In the cup Best for
Intenso 11/15 Medium Brazil, India, Uganda Strong, lasting flavour with almond and dried fruit notes Espresso fans and milky coffees
Cremoso 10/15 Medium Honduras, Colombia, India, Uganda A balance of strength and sweetness An everyday coffee most people like
Soave Decaffeinated 8/15 Medium Vietnam (100% Robusta) Gentle acidity with a fruity aftertaste Afternoons and guests who avoid caffeine

A quick note on intensity. The number tells you about roast, body and bitterness. It does not tell you how much caffeine is in the cup. Our post on what coffee intensity means explains it in full.

Intenso: the strong Nespresso Professional compatible pod

Intenso is the best seller in the range. It has a bold flavour that hangs around, a thick hazelnut coloured crema, and notes of almond and dried fruit. It is great as a short espresso, and it still tastes like coffee once you add milk.

Cremoso: the all-rounder

Cremoso sits just below Intenso on the scale. It blends beans from Honduras, Colombia, India and Uganda for a smooth, rounded cup. If you can only stock one pod for a mixed group of people, this is the safe pick.

Soave Decaffeinated: the decaf option

Every workplace has someone who skips caffeine after lunch. Soave Decaffeinated gives them a proper coffee with a light, fruity finish. If you are curious about how the caffeine comes out, read how decaf coffee is made.

How to choose Nespresso Professional compatible pods for your workplace

You do not need to be a coffee expert to get this right. Follow these steps and you will have a sensible first order.

Step by step: from machine check to first order

  1. Check your machine. Make sure it is a Zenius or a Gemini. If it is something else, ask before you buy.
  2. Count your cups. Keep a rough tally for one normal week. That is your baseline.
  3. Pick a main blend. Go for Cremoso if tastes are mixed. Choose Intenso if your team likes a stronger coffee.
  4. Add a decaf. One pack of Soave Decaffeinated covers the people who want a coffee without the buzz.
  5. Order at least two packs. Two packs come to £33.58, which is over the £25 mark for free UK mainland delivery.
  6. Test for a fortnight. Ask people what they think, then change the mix if you need to.
  7. Set a reorder point. When you open your last pack, order more. Next day delivery is available on the UK mainland if you order before the daily cut-off.

How many Nespresso Professional compatible pods does an office need?

As a starting point, we have assumed two cups per person per working day and 21 working days in a month. Your office may drink more or less, so treat this as a guide.

Team size Pods a month Packs of 50 Monthly cost at £16.79 a pack
5 people 210 5 £83.95
10 people 420 9 £151.11
20 people 840 17 £285.43
40 people 1,680 34 Ask for wholesale pricing

Gimoka also runs a Subscribe and Save offer, which takes 10% off repeat orders. Check the product page to see if it is live for the pods you want.

Where these pods work best

These pods are made for places where lots of different people use one machine.

  • Offices and co-working spaces. Quick, clean and no barista needed.
  • Meeting rooms and receptions. A good coffee is an easy way to look after visitors.
  • Hotels, B&Bs and holiday lets. Guests get a proper espresso without you running a full coffee bar.
  • Restaurants, salons and showrooms. Handy when coffee is part of the service but not the main event.
  • Home offices. Some people buy an ex-office Zenius for home. The pods work just the same.

What if your workplace does not use pods at all? If you have a bean-to-cup machine, look at Gimoka's Italian coffee beans. For filter machines and cafetières, there is ground coffee. And for a Nespresso® Original machine at home, there is a full range of Nespresso compatible pods.

Recycling Nespresso Professional compatible pods at work

Gimoka's Professional pods are made from aluminium. That is good news, because aluminium can be melted down and used again and again.

How you recycle them depends on where you are.

  • At home. Gimoka is a partner of Podback, the UK's not-for-profit pod recycling service. You can add a free aluminium Podback bag to your order. Use Podback's Recycle Checker to confirm what is accepted where you live.
  • At work. Podback says its service is for households for now, and that it is in talks about a service for businesses. So for an office, ask your waste contractor how they collect aluminium pods. Depending on the contractor, used pods may go in a pod bin, a metals bin or your dry mixed recycling.

A simple tip: keep a lidded tub next to the machine for used pods. If the pods are already separate, they are far more likely to be recycled. For more detail, read are Nespresso pods recyclable?

Buying in bulk: wholesale and machine rental

If you are ordering for a big office, several sites or a hospitality business, it is worth a conversation. Gimoka offers wholesale accounts and coffee machine rental for workplaces.

The wholesale page also covers private label coffee. That is where Gimoka roasts and packs coffee under your own brand, which suits distributors, retailers, hotels and restaurant groups.

Nespresso Professional compatible pods: FAQs

Are Nespresso Professional compatible pods the same as normal Nespresso pods?

No. Professional pods are flat and wide, and they only fit Nespresso Professional machines. Home Nespresso® Original and Vertuo capsules are a different shape. You cannot swap them over.

Which machines do Gimoka's Nespresso Professional compatible pods fit?

They are made for Nespresso Professional machines in the Zenius and Gemini ranges. If you have a different model, such as a Momento, contact Gimoka before you order.

How much do Nespresso Professional compatible pods cost?

A pack of 50 Gimoka pods costs £16.79, which is about 34p a cup. Orders over £25 get free UK mainland delivery, so two packs is a good place to start.

Will compatible pods damage my machine or affect the warranty?

Gimoka says its capsules will not damage your machine, and that the manufacturer's warranty does not depend on which brand of capsule you use. If your machine is rented or leased, check your agreement for any terms about pod orders.

How many pods are in a pack?

Each pack holds 50 aluminium pods. Each pod contains 6g of ground coffee, which makes one cup.

Is there a decaf option?

Yes. Soave Decaffeinated is a medium roast made from 100% Vietnamese Robusta beans. It has an intensity of 8 out of 15 and a fruity aftertaste.

What does the intensity number mean?

Gimoka scores every blend out of 15. The score reflects roast level, body and bitterness. It is not a measure of caffeine. A higher number means a stronger tasting coffee.

How fast is delivery?

Next day delivery is available on the UK mainland if you order before the daily cut-off. Delivery is free on the UK mainland when you spend over £25. See the shipping policy for full details.

Can I recycle the pods?

Yes. The pods are aluminium, which can be recycled. At home, you can use a free Podback bag. Podback does not cover businesses yet, so offices should ask their waste contractor about collecting aluminium pods.

Can I get wholesale pricing or rent a machine?

Yes. Gimoka offers wholesale accounts and coffee machine rental for workplaces. Send an enquiry through the wholesale page, call 01789 491808 or email info@gimoka.co.uk.
